SHEIKH ABDULLAH - THE TRAGIC HERO OF KASHMIR BY AJIT BHATTACHARJEA LAUNCHED AT VICE PRESIDENT'S HOUSE



Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah: The Tragic Hero of Kashmir by Ajit Bhattacharjea was released by Shri Hamid Ansari, the Hon’ble Vice President of India at the Vice President’s House on 30 Sept 2008. The Guests of Honour for the event were Dr. Farooq Abdullah, Member of Parliament of the Rajya Sabha and Prof. Mushirul Hasan, the Vice Chancellor of Jamia Milia Islamia.

RELEASE FUNCTION - TALES OF TWO CITIES BY KULDIP NAYAR AND ASIF NOORANI


New Delhi, Sept 25 2008 : Roli Books celebrated the release of “Tales of Two Cities" by Kuldip Nayar and Asif Noorani at IIC.
The fourth book under Roli Books Cross-Border Talks series has been launched by Mr. Afrasiab, the Acting High Commissioner of Pakistan.
Nidhi Razdan, a Senior Special Correspondent with NDTV has been in conversation with the authors about their turbulent journey during the partition of India and the sudden uproot from their ancestral homes and thrust into their adopted cities.

New Delhi, Aug 21, 2008: Roli Books released ‘I Witness’ by Kapil Sibal. The book has been launched by Justice M.N Venkatachaliach, Former Chief Justice of India. The author has been in conversation with renowned journalist Ms. Barkha Dutt about the themes delved into and the inspiration behind his writing.


New Delhi, September 4, 2008: Roli Books held a reading session and panel discussion to celebrate the publication of Weed, a book by Paro Anand at the IIC on ‘how does violence or difficult circumstances impact the lives and minds of children as seen in Weed?
The panel included Wajahat Habibullah (Chief Information Commissioner, India),Feisal Alkazi(Educationist, Activist, Theatre Personality), Arun Kapur(Director, Vasant Valley School) and Munizae Jahangir( Pakistani Documentary Filmmaker, Journalist).

Paro Anand commenced the evening by reading excerpts from her book and talked about the reasons for choosing Kashmir as the backdrop of the story which distinctly deals with the condition and the psyche of children affected by growing terrorism.

Roli Books celebrated the publication of Bombay Art Deco Architecture: A Visual Journey (1930-1953)
by Navin Ramani at The Gordon House Hotel, 5 Battery Street, Apollo Bunder, Colaba, Mumbai on Monday February 12, 2007 at 7pm.
The book was released by Ms Shirin Barucha and the event was chaired by Mr Kamu Iyer,architect, professor, founding member of the Urban Design Research Institute(UDRI), followed by a visual presentation Mumbai Art Deco Architecture in context of the Miami parallel and a brief talk by Ms Brinda Somaya,member of Mumbai’s initiative for the Protection & Improvement of Streets & Public Spaces, and Mr Ratan Batliboi, Principal of the firm RJB Design Group.

ITB Award for India: Then and Now

The German edition of India: Then and Now - „Indien Einst & Jetzt“ will be awarded with the ITB Book Award 2007. The award will be presented on March 11th at the ITB in Berlin where India happens to be the guest of honour.

It is the only illustrated book to have won an award this year!
